With a heat warning in place for the Cariboo-Chilcotin, a cooling station is being made available in 100 Mile House.
The South Cariboo Recreation Centre at 175 Wrangler Way will be open from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm beginning Wednesday July 27th until Saturday July 30th. Will remain open beyond Saturday if the heat event continues.
Extreme heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
