Public Skating
Ice skating is for the fun and enjoyment of everyone. Regardless of your skill, there are elements of risk in skating. Use common sense, show your courtesy to others, and anticipate dangerous situations before they arise.
Participant Responsibility Code:
The following includes rules, guidelines, and elements of common courtesy:
- Helmets are mandatory for ages 10 years and younger.
- Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other skaters.
- Keep moving while on the ice. Do not stop where you obstruct others.
- People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid hitting or disrupting them.
- No speeding
- No weaving
- No roughness
- No snowballs or other throwing
- Keep exits clear. Look for oncoming traffic when stopping on the ice.
- Do not sit on dasher boards.
- Do not carry children or any other items while skating. No eating, drinking, or smoking on the ice.
- Do not go on the ice without skates. Do not wear skates in the stands.
- No strollers or sleds on the ice. Sledge baskets allowed.
- Obey skate attendant. Report hazards to skate attendants.
- Respect other skaters. No foul language or littering.
- Stay off ice when resurfacing is in progress.
