The Ministry of Forests and the 100 Mile House Natural Resource District is planning burns at multiple sites in the 100 Mile Zone to reduce fire hazard near several 2021 wildfires. These burns are being completed to reduce fuel hazards created from the construction of control lines during 2021 fire suppression activities.
These sites include the following 2021 wildfires: Canim Lake (C41100), Howard Lake (C41146), South Deka Lake (C41102), Young Lake (C41097), Flat Lake (C41602) and Chasm (C41866).
Burning will occur throughout the winter until March 31, 2023, at which time any fires still burning will be extinguished. Smoke may be visible in the areas surrounding these sites.
