Smoke from pile burning may be visible in the Flat Lake area
November 16, 2023
100 Mile House – The Ministry of Forests will be burning approximately 100 piles of woody debris and log decks at multiple sites within the vicinity of the Flat Lake wildfire (C41602).
These activities are being taken to help reduce fuel hazards created from the construction of control lines during fire suppression activities.
Smoke may be visible from Highway 97, Highway 24 and areas around 100 Mile House, Lac La Hache, 70 Mile House and Green Lake.
Burning is expected to begin November 20th, 2023 and will continue periodically until February 29th, 2023. It will occur only on days when site and weather conditions are favourable and will allow smoke to dissipate. These controlled burns will be conducted by Ministry staff or local contract crews.
