Essential Infrastructure Replacement: Horse Lake Bridge
The District of 100 Mile House is committed to ensuring the safety and accessibility of our community. In light of numerous concerns regarding the condition and replacement timing of Horse Lake Bridge, Mayor Maureen Pinkney has been actively collaborating with the Minister of Municipal Affairs to expedite the necessary archaeological permits essential for commencing construction.
In February 2022, the District of 100 Mile House secured $1,748,000 in funding from the Ministry of Transportation through the Rural and Northern Communities Program. With the total project costs initially estimated at $4,700,000, an additional $2,952,000 has been allocated from the District's Municipal Reserve accounts to meet project costs.
Horse Lake Bridge, situated within a recognized archaeological site, necessitates appropriate permits for both the installation of a temporary bridge and the full replacement of the existing structure. We are now in the final stages of securing these permits in collaboration with our archaeologists and the Provincial Archaeology Branch.
