2026 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS

NOTICE OF NOMINATION

The Local Government Election is being held Saturday, October 17th, 2026 , from 8:00 a.m. to 

8:00 p.m. Public Notice is given to the electors of the District of 100 Mile House that nominations for the office of:                                                 

One (1) Mayor & Four (4) Councillors to be elected

for a 4-year term, commencing November 2026, will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person, as follows:

9:00 am September 1st, 2026 to 4:00 pm September 11th, 2026

Excluding Statutory holidays and weekends

Originals of emailed nomination documents must 

be received by the Chief Election Officer by 

4:00 pm on September 11th, 2026

Nomination packages are now available for pick up at 

the District of 100 Mile House (Municipal Office) during regular office hours.

(Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 17th, 2026;
  • resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
  • not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 local government election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

  • Mayor – $12323.78
  • Councillor - $6161.89

THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 local government election, the following third-party advertising limits apply:

  • Third Party Direct Advertising Expense Limit: $924.28
